Susan Douglas Franzosa


Image: Dean Susan FranzosaSusan Douglas Franzosa is the Dean of the Graduate School of Education and Allied Professions and Professor of the Philosophy of Education at Fairfield University. She received her BA from the University of Connecticut and her M.Ed. and Ph.D. from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Prior to her appointment as Dean of GSEAP in 2006, she was the Director of the Education Program at the University of Washington, Chair of the Department of Education at the University of New Hampshire, the Director of the UNH Study Abroad Program at Regents College, London, and a sixth grade language arts teacher. She is the immediate past president of the American Educational Studies Association and a recipient of the SUNY at Buffalo Distinguished Alumni Award. She is the coauthor of Integrating Women's Studies Into the Curriculum, and editor of Civic Education: Its Limits and Conditions and Ordinary Lessons: Girlhoods of the 1950s. Her current research deals with the history of early childhood education.
