What can I do?
Getting Around
Most of the time, getting from here to there requires a car. But there are easy things you can do to cut down on fuel emissions.
Flip the switch. Unless you will be idling for 30 seconds or less, cut the engine. Otherwise, it is more efficient to restart it when it is time to go.
Drive less. Carpool to work or after school/work activities. Run your errands at businesses along your commute to/from work or regularly traveled routes. Take public transportation. Ride your bike or walk.
Fuel efficiency.
Drive a vehicle that gets the most mileage per gallon, or choose a hybrid. Avoid unnecessary driving. Ask your employer about telecommuting.
Tune up.
Reduce emissions and increase your vehicle's performance by following the manufacturer's guidelines for maintenance. Keep your tires properly inflated to improve gas mileage.
