The Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Connecticut recently honored David Frassinelli, Fairfield University's associate vice president of Facilities Management, at its Seventh Annual Industry Recognition Awards Dinner.
The Bridgeport native was given the "Private Owner of the Year" award in relation to his work at Fairfield and for his career overall. The Wethersfield-based organization observed that Frassinelli exemplifies "exceptional leadership and character" and exhibits "a commitment to excellence and service and a determination to exceed expectations."
"I'm honored to be singled out and pleased to play a part in the University's exemplary building and sustainability projects," said Frassinelli, who joined the administration of Fairfield University in 2008. He was among eight other professionals from Connecticut's commercial construction industry who were recognized for demonstrating skills, integrity, and responsibility in their careers.
Frassinelli was instrumental in Fairfield's recently completed $60 million residential building program that has added 200 beds to campus. In its design and scope, the new construction and renovation project balances the need for the campus to be a place where students can grow academically, socially and spiritually.
Other Fairfield projects Frassinelli has been central to include the American Institute of Architects (AIA)-recognized Fairfield Jesuit Community Center; the campus' Early Learning Center; and the Bellarmine Museum of Art, winner of the 2011 CBC Project Team Award for small projects. He also chairs the Campus Sustainability Committee that has measured and posted the University's greenhouse gas inventory and carbon reduction plan. Prior to joining the University, Frassinelli worked with Gilbane Building Company. He earned a bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College, a certificate in Construction Management from Stanford University and a master's degree in Finance from Fairfield.
