Registration Procedures

Graduate tuition and educational expenses are determined on a cost-per-credit basis and vary by program of study. At the time of registration, students are expected to either:

  • Arrange for payment of expenses in accordance with Fairfield University's tuition payment policies
    or
  • Secure financial aid that may partially or fully cover their program expenses.

Graduate students who wish to utilize their financial aid funds to cover all expenses in order to register without an immediate payment can request to have the Financial Aid Eligibility and Registration Authorization (FAE/RA) form processed. This form is approved and processed by the Office of Financial Aid and will be sent to both the Office of the Bursar and University Registrar in order to complete a student's registration without payment. This form will notify both departments that the financial aid package is complete and that its proceeds cover the total tuition and registration fee(s).

If financial aid only covers a portion of the costs at the time of registration, students are responsible for any remaining balance due before the registration will be completed.

To request a FAE/RA form, please notify the Office of Financial Aid at least 24 hours prior to coming to campus for registration. Students must plan to enroll for a minimum of six credits if they are applying for federal aid. Requests can be made by phone, fax or e-mail and should include the student's name, Fairfield University ID number and the number of credits the student plans to enroll in for one semester.

Graduate students who plan to register with the FAE/RA form are required to do so in person at the University Registrar, which is located in the Aloysius P. Kelley, S.J. Center.

If financial aid funds will not be available at the time of registration, students must be prepared to pay 25% of your tuition and 100% of your fees when registering. Students may sign a promissory note with the Office of the Bursar in the amount of the balance due, plus a $25 processing fee. Payment plans are available to students enrolling for a minimum of six credits during the fall and spring semesters only.
