Datastream Advance - the financial and economic world of data is extensive. Indices, commodities, individual stocks, interest rates, bonds, economic statistics from just about any country in the world. To download time series data for multiple equities, bonds, etc., use Datastream by first booting up Excel and then click on AFO Datastream, use the manual (PDF) online (Datastream AFO below) or follow one of the basic instruction modules below (from prior version - you'll need to also consult manual or figure it out):

COMPUSTAT: Standard & Poors U.S. and global financial information. You can construct various "screens" and download large volumes of data.

Downloading Compustat or Global Vantage Data (Research Insight)

CRSP: U.S. stock market historical daily returns data (good for event studies); Datastream has somewhat similar data but CRSP goes back further and provides returns including dividends

Trans-Lux: Data wall & display tickers are in the BEST Classroom. We can display stock prices, indices, etc., as well as trading positions we are running in FTS during class time with news stories related to simulated stock appearing on the data wall.

Library Information Databases (log onto library and go to databases):

FISonline: financial data on U.S. & international companies including annual reports, balance sheets and income statements. A good first source and easy to use.

Infotrac: Company news, business - good source of information.

Lexis Nexis: Newspapers, journals, reports - excellent source. Does not have the WSJ - this is only available in the library (microfiche).

There are several other databases with finance/economic journal articles such as ABI, JStor also have numerous journals.
