StagWeb upgradeThis summer, Administrative Computing is planning to upgrade the StagWeb application portal. As per usual, these upgrades must be made while the system is isolated from all activity. Administrative Computing is working with our user community to identify a date where the interruption in service will have the least impact on the community. StagWeb is currently at version 3.1. We will be upgrading the application portal to version 3.2 and then immediately upgrade to version 3.3. The StagWeb upgrade will encapsulate both infrastructure and application enhancements to the application portal. Below is an overview of some these enhancements:
Dynamic Role-Based Targeted Announcement Delivery
The previous version of StagWeb had most of the targeted announcement data stored in the LDAP repository. If a user acquired a new functional role (e.g. change in responsibility that resulted in a new level of security access) after the targeted announcement was delivered, the user would not receive the targeted announcement. After the upgrade, the targeted announcements will be dynamic, meaning, if a targeted announcement is delivered and a user joins a new user role after the targeted announcement delivery, that user with the new role will receive the targeted announcement.

Group and Course Studio
The Group and Course Studio application have been enhanced to support two new features: Course Consolidator and Group Creation and Population .
Course Consolidator allows faculty members to group any number of courses into a singly managed course that allows them to maintain one course homepage and associated tools, such as message board, chat room and share files.
Group Creation and Population allows system administrators to quickly set up a Group Studio for members of an imported group, which is set up in the system through a specially formatted XML extract that contains a group name, description and list of users. |
