Increased demand for Library instruction

This year librarians conducted 5 faculty workshops with 70 participants and 185 instruction sessions for 3,300 students on topics such as plagiarism, copyright, and specific subscription databases. The EN12 library class revisions of the content and format incorporating a research plan exercise was deemed a significant improvement by students and faculty. More refinements are planned for this summer. The "Reference by appointment" service increased 85% and served 110 researchers. Over 180 graduate students attended "drop in" research sessions geared especially to their needs.

Librarians also taught research strategies and resources for students in an AP American History class visiting from Fairfield High School. Our extensive online resources such as the NYT Historical database and the print and non-print journal collections filled an essential need for resources on their study of the Cold War.

Ramona Islam's class for graduate students based at Sikorsky was a huge hit. These off-site students were delighted to learn about the extensive roster of databases available to off-campus students and other library resources.
