Network Bandwidth Expansion

Arrangements were finalized during the fall semester to expand the amount of network bandwidth or capacity specifically available for use by Fairfield students. A contract was signed with Cablevision/Lightpath and the existing 15 Mbps (Megabits per second) pathway to the Internet was increased to 50 Mbps. This improvement has significantly accelerated the speed with which students are able to send and receive data from the connection ports on campus. Usage of bandwidth for both the faculty/staff network as well as the student network is routinely monitored to determine if further expansion of these networks is warranted.
