Financial Strength

Annual Giving

The University's Annual Fund heightens the educational experience of every Fairfield student and secures the University's financial stability. As the umbrella fundraising program for unrestricted gifts, the Annual Fund addresses Fairfield's ongoing need for current operations support. As such, gifts to the Annual Fund open the door of opportunity for Fairfield's students in myriad ways. To attract the most promising students, annual giving helps the University offer competitive financial aid packages so that a Fairfield education can become a reality for all those interested, regardless of financial need. Once here, students discover a unique array of living and learning experiences, and personal, one-on-one mentorship opportunities with a highly engaged faculty, all of which are supported by annual giving. Annual giving also helps Fairfield offer a broad range of global learning opportunities, and supports the University's Catholic and Jesuit mission so that students graduate with a deep awareness of themselves and their place in the world. The combined annual commitment of alumni, parents, and friends open all these doors and so many more.

Planned Giving

Gifts to Fairfield that are planned now but delivered in the future are thoughtful gestures of gratitude and faith in the long and healthy life of the University. Planned gifts are a popular method of giving because they can provide substantial tax benefits and sources of income. They may take the form of stocks and securities, wills and estates, artwork, real estate, or other assets. As one of the most powerful philanthropic tools available to Fairfield's benefactors, planned giving is reciprocal giving - it helps build the University's financial stability as well as the donor's through one carefully considered move. Alumni, parents, and friends of the University who believe in and want to advance its mission of developing men and women for others can do so through this wealth management strategy or estate planning process. Fairfield University is pleased to work with individuals to explore the best and most beneficial vehicle to use in making a planned or deferred gift.

Endowed Chairs

Fairfield University recognizes that a fully integrated core curriculum will school its students in the best that Jesuit education offers the world: open-mindedness, respect for human dignity, formation in values, and an attention to the religious dimension of our lives. To accomplish this, the University seeks additional full-time faculty members of exceptional prominence. Only full-time professors can deliver an integrated vision of the core by working across disciplines to find common themes and providing the consistent advising and mentoring this new integration will require. Providing additional faculty will enable Fairfield to enrich its existing graduate and undergraduate course offerings and develop new revenue generating programs. Currently, Fairfield University has eight established endowed chairs; fundraising to endow current positions ($1.5M) as well as new positions ($2.5M) will help recruit and retain faculty of stellar quality, while taking some of the burden off tuition revenue by providing income to a new or existing salary line.
