How to Install Antivirus Software (PC)

Installing Norton Anti-virus software on a PC

Step 1: Verify that you have the University-supplied antivirus software installed on your computer

• Click on the Start menu
• Click Settings
• Click Control Panel
• Click Add/Remove Programs. If you see either Norton AntiVirus Corporate Edition or Symantec Client Security, then you need not install the antivirus software.

Step 2: Download the Symantec AntiVirus program. Click here to download the software.

After you have successfully downloaded your new antivirus software you will need to make sure that you uninstall any pre-exisiting version of any other antivirus software. Failure to uinstall other antivirus programs can cause your computer to fail to work properly!

After you have verified that you do not have any pre-existing antirus software installed on your computer, you shoul begin installing the new antiviru software by using the default settings for the installation.

• Once the software is installed, you will need to update the current antivirus definition file (the installation program will take you through the steps of doing this).
• You have now installed Symantec AntiVirus on your computer.

Step 3: Scan your computer for viruses.
