The Top Five Things Students Should Know about NetID
- You need to claim (or "get") your NetID before you can access or log on to any Fairfield University online resource. (Your NetID is different from your Fairfield Student ID number.) Claim your NetID.
- Generally, your NetID Username is firstname.lastname. There are exceptions, however, since each NetID must be unique. So, if your name is John Smith, for instance, there's a good chance that another John Smith has already been assigned john.smith. (During the NetID claim process, you'll be told what your NetID is; be sure to look for it.)
- Your NetID password will expire every 120 days. You will receive numerous e-mail warnings before it expires and will be reminded to select a new password so you can continue to access resources.
- If you forget your NetID password, or if it has expired, you will not be able to reset your password online. Instead, please bring a photo identification to the Computing & Network Service (C&NS) Help Desk between 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday (9:00 a.m. to noon on Fridays during the summer). The Help Desk is located on the ground floor of Dolan Commons, just around the corner from Human Resources. If you are unable to come to campus during business hours because you're out of state, please contact the Help Desk at 203-254-4069.
We strongly urge you to change your password before its 120-day expiration to avoid having to come to campus to reset your password.
