Message from the Chair

Dear Colleagues:

Jorge FigueredoIt is an honor and a privilege for me to take on the inaugural chairmanship of the College of Arts and Sciences Board of Advisors. Through this role, I have met a highly qualified group of alumni, parents, and friends of the institution who share my commitment to Fairfield University, and in particular to the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS). This talented committee of accomplished individuals adds value not only to the work of the Board, but to the efforts of faculty and staff on behalf of Fairfield students.

Our work during the Board's first year of operation has provided all of us with a unique opportunity to experience the vibrancy of CAS through the faculty, students, and dean, Dr. Timothy Law Snyder. The opportunity to work closely with the dean, Fairfield's president, the Rev. Jeffrey von Arx, S.J., and members of the faculty at a pivotal moment in the University's history has and continues to be very rewarding.

Together we are working toward realizing the future goals for CAS, which involve a $450,000 fundraising goal through a focus on four projects - the Bellarmine Museum, as well as two-year programmatic initiatives in Biology, Religious Studies, and the Visual and Performing Arts. I encourage you to read more about these initiatives and to join us in our effort to raise these funds in support of the future of CAS.

As the largest of Fairfield's schools, the College of Arts and Sciences touches all students through the 60-credit liberal arts core curriculum. I invite you to join us in this journey of growth as we assist CAS and Fairfield in the realization of these exciting priority projects that will ultimately benefit all.

Sincerely,

Jorge Figueredo '82
