The Writing Center - Message from the Director
Welcome to the Fairfield University Writing Center!
The Writing Center provides all University students with the support they need as developing writers. We recognize the importance of writing for every student, regardless of his or her concentration, and provide the opportunity to benefit from the knowledge and experience of our highly capable staff.
In the Writing Center, students can work directly with a peer tutor at any stage of the writing process. During a one-on-one conference, students can receive assistance on everything from starting an essay to revising a draft. Whatever the concern, we are here to help. While our tutors are not editors, they will help students develop the skills that all effective writers need to succeed at the University and beyond.
We look for tutors who are more than simply good writers. Our tutors enjoy working with their fellow students and have received special training through a course on writing theory and peer tutoring. If you are interested in joining our staff as a paid Writing Center tutor, please stop by and talk with one of our tutors. You will quickly discover that you do not need to be an English major to work here; you simply need an interest in helping Fairfield University's students become stronger writers.
Thank you for your interest.
