Music
The Music Program at Fairfield University is designed to give students the opportunity to study with faculty whose expertise and real-world experience make for dynamic interaction within and beyond the classroom. We offer students the intimacy of a small arts community embedded within a broad range of liberal arts courses that Fairfield provides to all undergraduate students.
In this way, our music majors and minors develop the creative skills and mindset that can result in a life-long commitment to music, either professionally or as an avocation, while also developing critical, analytic, and aesthetic thinking skills that are applicable to all disciplines. Such training allows our students to become principled, cultured leaders in the world that will make them successful in any career as well as in the world around them.
The Music Program at Fairfield will let you:
- Explore some of the many dimensions of music - history, theory, industry, composition, performance, business, conducting, and technology
- Choose to supplement your classroom learning with for-credit private lessons or performing group experience (all are open to all students, regardless of major)
- Develop your love of music, while pursuing a career in another field, with a double major or minor, since we are part of the College of Arts and Science
- Major without any previous experience
