Syllabus Design: Communicating Your Course to Your Students (Spring-into-Spring Week)

Monday, January 9, 2012
2:45 PM - 4:45 PM
Library 107c

In this session, participants think through three key questions: (1) what to include in their course syllabi? (2) how to guide students through their courses? and (3) how to communicate their courses to students? Presented by the CAE, this session guides participants through syllabus design based on The Course Syllabus: A Learning-Centered Approach (Grunert O’Brien, Millis, and Cohen, 2008) and Nilson’s The Graphic Syllabus and the Outcomes Map: Communicating Your Course (2007). Participants will develop a draft of a graphic syllabus or outcomes map that organizes their course and communicates the big picture of their course to students. Facilitated by Suzanna Klaf and Larry Miners, CAE.
