Designing Laboratory/Hands-on Experiences for Core Science Students

This workshop will bring together Fairfield’s science faculty to discuss and design laboratory or other hands-on student learning experiences. We will begin with demonstrations of lab experiences already being used successfully on campus, and then provide an opportunity for participants to design new course modules or labs. Faculty will be asked to come to the workshop with a rough outline of a new lab and/or interactive activity. At the end of the first session, participants will be sent off to gather materials and prepare to describe and demonstrate their activity in the second meeting. Our goal is to move projects from the “great idea” stage to the “ready for prime time” stage in these two workshops.
