Exploring Racism & Internalized Racism in the Classroom
- Explore ways to identify and analyze manifestations of racism and internalized racism, as well as to interrupt and respond to such manifestations. Includes definitions of key terms and discussion of power and privilege as primary indicators. A series of classroom scenarios provide opportunities for faculty participants to gain experience applying this frame for analysis and action. Discuss five "elements of a liberatory consciousness," including interventions that enable people to move beyond guilt and shame to "empowered retrieval, transformation and liberation."
