Encouraging and Developing Reflection for Improved Learning: A Reflective Writing Workshop with John Zubizaretta (Goal 1 Integrative Learning Event)

Thursday, October 4, 2007
3:00 PM - 4:30 PM
Library Room 233

Students do not automatically know how to reflect; they may lack the skills of reflection or they may confuse reflective inquiry with untempered emotional unloading. What are some methods that promote authentic reflection for improved learning? How do we teach reflective learning while tending to content, while keeping expectations high, and while employing other familiar pedagogies? This session offers suggestions for how to embrace reflection to improve learning through practical strategies in the classroom. Bring your experiences and ideas for active conversation, for sharing of resources, and for developing a list of tips for tapping the power of reflection in enhancing learning.
