Winner of seven Obie Awards, SITI Company is one of the country's leading theatre ensembles. Founded by Anne Bogart and Japanese theatre artist Tadashi Suzuki, SITI Company is recognized throughout the world as one of theatre's most important artistic collectives, creating groundbreaking work while training artists from all over the world.
Café Variations is a celebration of café culture, vignettes from Charles Mee's Café Plays combined with Gershwin's music from the American songbook. Incorporating dialogue, music, and dance, members of SITI Company create an iPod-like shuffle of scenes and songs, featuring the romantic vignettes and philosophical characters ubiquitous to the lively world of the café.
Praise for Café Variations:
"unabashedly romantic ... a series of vivid and visceral explorations of life, love and identity (that) cast Gershwin classics in a new light." -- Boston Globe
Praise for SITI Company:
"What audiences experience at a SITI performance is a unique physical theatre of intelligence, rigor, poetry and grace." - Theatre Bay Area
