2009-10 Season Schedule

The Open VISIONS Forum is a public outreach program of University College engaging the 'life of the mind' with the Connecticut community. Its mission is to integrate the academic perspective of the University's students and faculty with the wide general interests of our regional audience. Through an ongoing series of lively and informative lectures, these 'public conversations' present:

  • Eminent opinion-makers
  • Artists
  • Authors
  • Learned contributors to the humanities and sciences
  • Civic and political commentators

These renown presenters engage our University audience with topical issues facing a global and national agenda.

As a valuable point of contact between the Connecticut audience and the University, Open VISIONS Forum underscores Fairfield's role of bringing academic excellence into the intellectual, cultural, ethical, and spiritual dimensions of contemporary life.

To achieve this goal, we strive to create a truly open-ended rostrum accessible to all who share in the value of thoughtful and balanced communication. The search for truth and an unyielding belief in freedom of expression without biased prejudice or narrowing intolerance serves our University, our community, and the nation.

Parking for Open VISIONS Forum Events

For week night lectures, 2 shuttle buses will run between the Fairfield Prep parking lot, which has been reserved exclusively for the convenience of Open VISIONS Forum patrons, and the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts. Buses will run continually from 7 p.m. until the beginning of the lecture at 8 p.m., and they will also return patrons to their cars at the end of the event.
