Our Mission
Publicly inaugurated on October 25, 2010, the Bellarmine Museum of Art (BMA) at Fairfield University is the fruit of many years' labor. The museum's mission statement makes its objectives clear:
Art is a universal language, capable of uniting individuals and societies across time, space, and history: It has the capacity to teach, to delight, and to move. Art is a critical component of a holistic educational experience. These principles have long been championed by Fairfield University through its steadfast commitment to the Humanities and the Jesuit pedagogical tradition. They equally inform the activities of the Bellarmine Museum, which is devoted to facilitating lifelong learning opportunities for its visitors and supporters, while simultaneously helping these individuals cultivate a deeper sense of themselves and of the transcendent.
The Bellarmine Museum is dedicated to preserving, studying, and exhibiting those objects entrusted to its care, while never losing sight of its obligation to educate and inspire its many audiences, for the greater enrichment of all.
