MacHomer - Rick Miller's 50 voices from The Simpsons perform an abbreviated Macbeth at Fairfield University's Quick Center for the Arts
(Posted on September 28, 2009) "A hyper fast-forward meld of Shakespeare and The Simpsons" - San Francisco Chronicle
"MacHomer," WYRD Productions' international smash hit parody of Shakespeare's "Macbeth," is performed by Rick Miller and features his impressions of more than fifty voices from TV's The Simpsons. It is a one-man vocal spectacular and Miller brings it to the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts at Fairfield University, Friday, Oct. 23 at 7:30 p.m.
Miller is one of Canada's most respected multi-disciplinary performers. His spot-on impressions of Matt Groening's famous characters from the hit series hilariously populate this imaginatively staged version of the tragedy. The result is that rare jewel: an educational and entertaining show, which has amazed audiences of all ages, backgrounds and languages.
With a script that remains 85% Shakespeare, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette says, "MacHomer" will leave you "exhausted with laughter." In its various incarnations, this virtuosic solo performance has been seen by over half a million people on four continents and continues to draw sell-out crowds and rave reviews. In 2005, to celebrate its 10th anniversary, "MacHomer" was completely revamped, featuring new songs, new characters and enhanced sound and video design.
Miller has performed "MacHomer" to capacity crowds across the U.S. and Canada, in such prestigious venues as the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. and the National Arts Center in Ottawa, Canada. The show has been highlighted at the world's most prestigious festivals, including the Edinburgh Fringe, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and the Just For Laughs International Comedy Festival and it has toured the world to rave reviews and awards in Scotland, England, Australia and New Zealand.
