Student Performing Groups - Jazz Ensemble
The Fairfield University Jazz Company is an 8-10 member student group led by renowned jazz musician and director, Brian Torff. The group performs a wide variety of jazz, including:
- Traditional jazz
- Modern jazz
- Blues
- Rock
- World music
The Jazz Ensemble concerts also include demonstrations in improvisation and some background about the history of jazz as taught by Torff, a professor of music at Fairfield University.
Jazz is an American art form and a valuable lesson in the importance of diversity in American culture.
