"The Secret of Kells" (2010) was nominated for an Oscar for the best animated feature. Irish director Tomm Moore and writer Fabrice Ziolkowski based their collaboration on the medieval Celtic manuscript of the Latin gospels, "The Book of Kells." The visually compelling film draws on Irish culture and fantasy, while adhering to the actual of the history of the sacred text that was first undertaken in St. Columcille's monastery at Iona. The text was completed at the Clonmacnoise monastery on the Shannon, which was also subjected to Viking raids, and from found its way for safe keeping at Trinity College, Dublin, where it can be viewed.

Dr. Marice Rose, who teaches Celtic and Early Irish Art, will introduce the film and field questions after the screening.
