The Asian Art Collection at Fairfield University has grown over the years through the generosity of alumni and friends and features works from China, Thailand, India and Persia. We have also provided a link on this page to the images of the Japanese Garden (1929) on the Fairfield University campus. Of particular importance to this collection were generous gifts from the Farrell Estate, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Fass, Mrs. Erna Manderman, and the artist Wang Ming.
Fairfield University is proud to be the recipient of an ASIANetwork consultancy grant funded by the Henry Luce Foundation. The ASIANetwork's mission is "strengthen the role of Asian Studies within the framework of liberal arts education to help prepare a new generation of undergraduates for a world in which Asian societies are playing more and more prominent roles." This grant focuses on Asian Art in the Undergraduate Curriculum and will allow us to focus our attention on integrating our Asian Art Collection more fully into the curriculum of Art History and Asian Studies. The following link will take you to the online image database of the ASIANetwork's Luce Asian Art in the Undergraduate Curriculm Project: http://www.ideasproject.org/collections/coll_as.html, where most of the Asian Art Collection at Fairfield University is now displayed.
