Student Alumni Association (SAA)

Students for four years,
Alumni for life!
Message from the Co-Presidents
It is said that your four years of college will be the "best years of your life" and being a Stag is a great way to spend them. One of the best ways to ensure that this happens is to get involved, make new friends, and take advantage of every opportunity that is put in front of you. I have a great way for you to do just that...
"The Student Alumni Association, or SAA, is an on-campus student organization which looks to strengthen the relationship between the current students of Fairfield University and its alumni." Sounds formal doesn't it? But we're more than just our mission statement.
SAA is involved in many fun and educational events around and off campus throughout the school year as well as the summer. Members of SAA assist in and/or plan such activities as Reunion Weekend, Homecoming, Spring Back to Fairfield, Major Decisions, "Dodge 'Til You Drop" Dodgeball, pre-game basketball receptions, the annual Teddy Bears With Love charity drive, sending supplies to troops overseas through the AnySoldier Program and work with the Office of Admissions to speak with prospective students and their families at Preview Day and Open House. But that's just some of what we do. These activities allow SAA members to interact with alumni and fellow students, as well as build lifelong connections to their Fairfield "family."
In addition to their involvement on campus, SAA is a member of a greater group of Student Advancement Programs known as ASAP (Association of Student Advancement Programs). Through their affiliation with this organization, SAA members gain the opportunity to travel to conferences along with between 150-600 fellow students involved in their respective SAAs at over 300 institutions from the United States and Canada. Most recently, national conferences have been held in Nashville, TN; Portland, OR; Boston, Mass.; San Antonio TX; and Columbus, OH. In the summer of 2008, SAA will once again have the chance to be a part of the ASAP National Networking Convention when it meets in Salt Lake City, Utah! Also, in late March, SAA will travel to its district-wide conference when all the Student Advancement Programs at colleges or universities in the Northeast meet at the University of Rhode Island in Kingston, RI.
But we're not all work and no play either. It's no secret that our SAA members have an extreme amount of Stag pride and love to have a good time. In addition to our meetings and events, SAA members attend Fairfield athletic events together, have "Thanksgiving Dinner" and "SAA Christmas," go to Bluefish Baseball games, Sound Tigers hockey games, have group dinners and social nights have a "you-can't-miss" Spring Retreat, and more. All of the time we spend together makes SAA a "family" that you don't want to miss the chance to be a part of.
If you are looking to get involved with SAA, meet some of our current members, or would just like to see for yourself what we're all about, please feel free to contact us at SAA@stagweb.fairfield.edu and one of our members will get back to you quickly with more information.
The Student Alumni Association has a reputation for having a good time, putting on great events, accomplishing great things, and building lasting bonds between the university and each other. If you're a fun-loving, outgoing, dedicated person looking to make a difference at Fairfield and spread your Stag Pride, then the Student Alumni Association is for you!
Go Stags!
