Fairfield Volunteer Recruiters
Let us do you a FaVoR by helping you keep in touch and make a difference.
So you can...
Do a FaVoR for a prospective student!
What is FaVoR?
Fairfield Volunteer Recruiters is a group of alumni, parents, and friends that volunteer their time at Admission events throughout the country. As Fairfield University continues to attract outstanding students from across the country, we are faced with the challenge of effectively communicating with them. Time limitations and travel conflicts do not always allow the admission staff to reach all of these potential students on our own. You can provide a personal perspective on the University as well as demonstrate the value of a Fairfield education.
The FaVoR program offers numerous ways to get involved:
- Interviews
- Regional Receptions
- On Campus Receptions
- Admitted Student Receptions
- Book Award Program
- College Fairs
Each Program offers you the opportunity to share your knowledge and experience with a student around your community. Better yet, the program helps to keep you connected with your alma mater! Whatever activity you choose, training materials will be provided to you be the Office of Admission.
Your investment of time is greatly appreciated by all of us at Fairfield, and will be undoubtedly have a significant influence on prospective students.
All that is required to become part of the FaVoR program is to complete the registration form. The link is below. We'll contact you shortly! If you have any questions, please contact:

FaVoR Volunteer Opportunities
Interviews
Although Fairfield University does not require admission interviews, many students like to meet with an admission representative on a one-to-one basis. Occasionally, a prospective student will call requesting an interview with a member of our alumni. When the student lives a good distance from campus, or is unable to come to our campus for an interview we will arrange an off campus interview with an alumnus. If you agree to interview a prospective student in your area, the Office of Admission will send you instructions for your evaluation. These interviews take place at a mutually convenient location such as an office or school location.
Regional Receptions
For students who have expressed interest in Fairfield, off-campus receptions are held in various locations-typically Boston, Hartford, Long Island, New Jersey and Philadelphia. These programs are usually held in a hotel or other large facility in the early fall or spring. An admission officer gives a formal presentation. Current students as well as FaVoR members (alumni and current parents) are asked to share commentary. These receptions provide students with a complete picture of FAirfield and subsequently, students are encouraged to visit campus.
On-Campus Receptions
At many of the on-campus admission events, special receptions are held for the children, grandchildren and/or siblings of current Fairfield students or alumni. A breakfast or an afternoon reception is held and we ask FaVoR members and current parents to join us in greeting our guests. The receptions make a prospective student's visit to campus much more memorable and personal.
Admitted Student Receptions
Select students who have been admitted through either Early Action or REgular Decision programs may be invited to an admitted student reception. Receptions are help in the home of alumnus. A member of the Admission staff, some current students and local alumni attend the reception to speak with students who are considering Fairfield University.
Book Award Program
Each year, 150 high school juniors nationwide are honored with a Fairfield University Book Award. The students are presented with a Merriam Webster Collegiate Dictionary, embossed in gold with the University seal. These book awards help us raise student awareness of Fairfield and advance the University's reputation as a premier Jesuit learning institution.
One student from the junior class of each participating high school will be recognized. The student must meet the following criteria:
- Rank in the top tenth of their class
- Enroll in a challenging curriculum (including Honors/AP/IB courses, if available)
- Participate actively in school and/or community activities
- Possess leadership qualities coupled with a sense of concern and responsibility to others
Fairfield alumni sponsor the awards at the schools each year by contributing the purchase and shipping costs of the book-$37. Once Fairfield is informed of the winner, the sponsor is notified so that they may offer congratulations to the student. In some cases, an opportunity is available for the alumni sponsor to present the award during the school's award ceremony.
College Fairs
Each year many high schools host college nights. Representatives from different colleges staff tables that are placed in a public area, usually a gymnasium or cafeteria. College representatives talk informally to circulating students and their parents while distributing materials and collecting the names of interested prospective students. Fairfield University is invited to hundreds of these programs annually. With the limited number of admission staff available to attend each program, volunteering to represent Fairfield University at a college night is a significant way in which you can help.
