Welcome to Homecoming & Family Weekend 2012
The weekend of October 19-21 was beautiful for Alumni & Family Weekend, as hundreds of parents had a chance to visit their students on campus, and alumni got together and revisited their favorite spots. Everyone enjoyed fun activities and favorite foods at the Taste of Fairfield and Stagtoberfest, as well as the new Einstein Bagels in the Barone Campus Center. Alumni reconnected at Alumni Mug Night Day over pizza and beer at The Levee. In the afternoon, families gathered at Mass, co-celebrated by University President Jeffrey P. von Arx, S.J., and Rev. George Collins, S.J., director of Campus Ministry. At the annual Christopher B. Love Student Achievement dinner, 100 students of color were recognized for academic success.

The Fifth Annual President's Lecture
Fr. von Arx delivered the fifth annual President's Lecture in Egan Chapel of St. Ignatius Loyola. Entitled "Back to the Source: The Inspiration of St. Ignatius and the Renewal of Jesuit Education," Fr. von Arx's lecture was a reflection upon how a Jesuit University like Fairfield can give today's students the foundation they need for the future, with inspiration from St. Ignatius. A Q&A and reception followed the lecture. The speech will be published in the winter issue of Fairfield University Magazine.

Reunion Celebrations for the Classes of 1952 and 1957
Graduates from the Classes of 1952 and 1957 and their spouses enjoyed a full weekend of activities in celebration of their 60th and 55th Reunions. University Chaplain Charles Allen, S.J., took them on a campus tour after lunch, followed by Mass, and dinner. Our thanks to the Reunion Committee members who helped coordinate the gatherings: from the Class of 1952: John Fray, Fred Frillici, Joe Kehoe, Frank O'Connor, Max O'Meara, and Stan Turski; from the Class of 1957: Alphonse Avitabile, Ken Catandella, and Henry Scopp.
"It was wonderful to be there," said Max O'Meara '52. "A noteworthy but nostalgic collation - the venue at 42 Bellarmine, lunch with Fr. von Arx, and the inspirational Mass with the Glee Club and homily by Fr. Allen. We are most grateful to all who served us."
