50th Reunion - Frequently Asked Questions
What is the date of 50th Reunion?
Reunion Weekend 2013 is scheduled for Friday, May 17 through Sunday, May 19, 2013.
What activities will be available for my classmates and me on Friday evening?
Friday afternoon there will be an all inclusive tour of campus. Spend the afternoon re-discovering your Fairfield home. Take a tour with stops and mini presentations along the way. Tour the state of the art School of Nursing, pay a visit to Egan Chapel of St. Ignatius Loyola and learn about the library that students have access to on campus today. Then kick off the weekend with our annual "Welcome Back" reception and barbecue.
A preliminary schedule of events includes:
Friday: Tour of campus, "Welcome Back" reception and barbecue
Saturday: Bellarmine Hall and Bellarmine Museum Tour, Jesuit Panel Conversation, Lunch with Father von Arx, Baccalaureate Mass, Cocktail Reception and Dinner Dance
Sunday: buffet breakfast and the 63nd Commencement Ceremonies
What is the price of 50th Reunion?
There is an all-inclusive price (Friday reception, Saturday breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Sunday breakfast) of $100 per person. You are also welcome to pay for portions of the weekend if you cannot attend everything (prices are to be determined). All additional Reunion Weekend activities (tours, presentations, etc.) are complimentary. In addition, if you are a staying overnight on campus you will be charged a housing fee.
What is the price of on-campus accommodations for overnight?
We are able to accommodate guests on campus at a rate of $100 per room for the entire (there is no per night fee, it is one fee for the duration of your visit) weekend. More information will be available in your Reunion invitation.
For example:
- If you are attending the entire weekend with a guest and staying on campus, the total cost for the entire weekend including housing would be $300 (($100 all-inclusive x 2 guests) + $100 per room housing
- If you are not bringing a guest, and are attending the entire weekend and staying on campus the total cost for the entire weekend including housing would be $200 ($100 all-inclusive x 1 guest) + $100 per room)
Are there rooms reserved at local hotels?br /> If you prefer to stay off campus, we have secured a special 50th Reunion rate starting at $179 per night at The Westport Inn, Westport, CT (203) 259-5236. Be sure to reference Fairfield University 50th Reunion Weekend when you make your reservation.
This is commencement weekend for many local universities, be sure to book your room in advance.
How do I register for Reunion Weekend?
Registration will be made available online at www.fairfield.edu/50threunion after the New Year.
Formal invitations including a reply card will be mailed to you after the New Year. Simply fill out the reply card and mail or fax it back.
Is Reunion Weekend 2013 accessible to those with special needs?
All activities during Reunion Weekend (including Commencement) can be modified to accommodate anyone with physical and/or dietary special needs. Please inform the Alumni Relations staff of any special needs prior to your arrival by indicating them on your reply card in the designated area or calling the Office of Alumni Relations at (203) 254-4280.
Will we be able to bring a spouse/guest to our activities?
You are certainly able and encouraged to bring a spouse/guest to Reunion. Your guest prices will be the same as the 50th Reunion weekend price and will allow them access to all of the weekend's events with you. During Baccalaureate Mass on Saturday, your guest will have special reserved seating near you. For those participating in Commencement, your guest will receive complimentary reserved seating under the VIP tent as you process in the ceremony. Please note, due to high security and limited space, we are able to accommodate one guest at Commencement.
Is there parking on campus?
For those staying on campus, convenient parking near the campus housing will be provided. For guests driving to campus, parking will be made available to you when you arrive on campus for Registration. From that point forward, you will be transported to all 50th Reunion activities via campus transportation. Handicap parking is available.
What is the dress code for Reunion?
Dress code for the day time activities and Friday evening reception is casual
Dress code for Baccalaureate Mass and the Saturday evening Dinner Dance is as follows:
Men: slacks, shirt and jacket (no tie required)
Women: dress, skirt or dress pants and blouse
Dress code for Commencement: casual, you will be wearing a gown over your outfit so be sure to dress comfortable and for the weather
Throughout the entire weekend please be sure to dress in layers and/or for all weather, as all of our activities take place rain or shine.
There will be a secure room in the official 50th Reunion Dorm building if you are not staying on campus and wish to bring a change of clothes and private facilities for you to change in for evening activities.
