About the Lyons-Lademan Athletics Fund
Character, Passion, Sportsmanship, Teamwork, Leadership ...
These are the life-long attributes we cultivate in all our student-athletes.
We have long recognized the important role sports play in the lives and development of healthy, well-rounded individuals. Our centralized Athletics Department, housed in the state-of-the-art Thomas J. Walsh Jr. Athletic Center, trains Fairfield men and women to participate in 20 varsity sports and 18 sports clubs. There is a place for every student to experience the dedication of training, the anticipation and thrill of the game, and the critical life lessons of teamwork learned on a field, court, or track.
The Lyons-Lademan Athletics Fund supports Fairfield's varsity and sports club teams by providing funds that reach beyond the annual Athletics operating budget. The Fund was established in 1987 in memory of two special individuals who demonstrated the powerful role competitive athletics plays in the formation of the whole person. Rev. Thomas J. Lyons, S.J., served as the University's athletics director from 1952 to 1963, and Jerry Lademan '75 was a true student-athlete who exemplified the ideals of teamwork and leadership to which Fairfield athletics aspire.
