Registration Procedures
Part-Time Studies tuition and educational expenses are determined on a cost-per-credit basis and vary by program of study. At the time of registration, students are expected to either:
- Arrange for payment of expenses in accordance with Fairfield University's tuition payment policies
OR
- Secure financial aid that may partially or fully cover their program expenses
Part-Time Studies students who wish to utilize their financial aid funds to cover all expenses in order to register without an immediate payment should, 24-48 hours prior to the desired day of registration, request that the Office of Financial Aid process a Financial Aid Registration Authorization form.
The student's eligibility for financial aid and the approval for registration without payment will be confirmed with both the Office of the Bursar and University Registrar. This form will notify both departments that the financial aid package is complete and that its proceeds will cover the total tuition and registration fees(s) for that semester.
If financial aid will not cover the entire semester's costs at the time of registration, students are responsible for any remaining balance due before the registration will be completed. Students should contact the Office of the Bursar for payment arrangements.
Students must plan to enroll for a minimum of six credits if they are applying for federal aid. Requests for the FAERA can be made by phone, fax or e-mail and should include the student's name, Fairfield University ID number and the number of credits the student plans to enroll in for one semester. When the Financial Aid Registration Authorization form has been processed, students will be required to register in person at the University Registrar.
If financial aid funds will not be available at the time of registration, students must be prepared to pay 25% of the tuition and 100% of the fees when registering. Students will be required to sign a promissory note with the Office of the Bursar in the amount of the balance due, plus all applicable processing fees. Payment plans are available to students enrolling for a minimum of six credits during the fall and spring semesters only.
