BASE Camp (Broadening Access to Science Education)
Sunday, July 14: Arrival and "move-in"
Monday, July 15-Friday, July 19: Laboratory research with faculty and undergraduates (depart on Friday)
Sunday, July 21: Return to campus
Monday, July 22-Friday, July 26: Exploration of health and science related careers and tailored college admissions counseling.
Evenings: Friendship building and mentorship through fun social activities
Final Day: Student Poster Presentation for family and friends
During the first week, students will work in small groups on a specific research project, led by a faculty mentor and two undergraduate counselors. Each project will expose students to important topics in science, experimental design, current research methodology, and data analysis. In the second week, students will explore various health and science related careers, meet professionals in the field, and engage in tailored college admissions counseling.
In the evenings, students will have the opportunity to interact with undergraduates and participate in fun activities. The program will culminate in a student poster presentation to be shared with friends, family, and the University community.
