Richard Metz '73, P'04
Richard Metz recently retired from AllianceBernstein, a global asset management company based in New York where he served as a Senior vice President responsible for managing several company-wide compliance projects. After his graduation from Fairfield, Dick received his MBA from Iona College and has held several senior administrative and operational managerial positions at Aetna Property and Casualty, Equitable Life, Equitable Capital, and Alliance Capital.
Dick has a long history of supporting Fairfield University. He has been a member of the President's Circle for almost 20 years, and in recent years has directed his contributions to the School of Nursing as he strongly believes in its mission and the important role it has and will continue to play in preparing quality nurses for the future. In addition, he was a member of the Trustees Advisory Council for 13 years, served as class co-chair of his alumni homecoming reunion, and recruited many Fairfield graduates over the years. He has held numerous voluntary positions including six years as Assistant Scoutmaster and Scoutmaster of his son's Boy Scout Troop, and more recently serving as a charter member of Yale New Haven Hospital's Patient and Family Advisory Board and its Melanoma Support Group. As a stage four metastatic melanoma survivor, he is keenly aware of the importance of advanced medical technology and quality nursing care and hopes to bring this perspective to the Advisory Board and the School of Nursing.
Dick and his wife Kathy reside in Wilton, Conn. They have two sons, Fairfield University and Boston College graduates, who are married and living in Trumbull, Conn. and Wilton, CT.
