Student Nurses Association
Welcome to the Fairfield University Student Nurses Association (SNA) website. The Student Nurse's Association is a very active group on campus that provides an opportunity for nursing students to participate in a professional organization. Each semester SNA holds a general meeting for all students in the School of Nursing. Topics for discussion are chosen based on student suggestions. Speakers include alumni of Fairfield's nursing program, experts in specialty nursing groups, and nationally recognized nurse leaders.
Community service is a key component of the Student Nurses Association. Students work closely with local children's centers, mission volunteers, convalescent centers, local churches, and the Fairfield University School of Nursing Health Promotion Center, to provide health education programs and charitable contributions.
SNA also organizes holiday parties that are lots of fun while providing an opportunity for new nursing students and upperclassmen to get acquainted. Most events have a dual purpose, such as contributing to food drives and collecting toys and sweaters for those in need.
Fund raising is an ongoing project. SNA sells professional equipment such as stethoscopes and clip boards, as well as Fairfield nursing clothing including tees and sweat shirts. Profits from these sales are used to help fund community projects, and support student attendance at professional conferences. Each year, at least two students attend the National Student Nurse's Association convention.
Students can apply for membership to the Student Nurses Association anytime during the academic year. The annual membership fee is $5.00.
