Now What? A Creative Writer's Guide to Success After the MFA
What’s life like for a graduate of an MFA in Creative Writing program? In a culture so dominated by practical priorities, should a writer view the degree as the first step to a new career? How does a writer parlay his or her education into a lifetime of creative inspiration, literary productivity, and financial subsistence?
These are critical questions for any writer, especially those who have invested the time and money in a degree. That’s why the Fairfield University MFA Alumni Association recruited more than 40 alumni and faculty to contribute to a first-of-its-kind guidebook to help writers turn their degree into a productive writer’s life. “Now What? A Creative Writer’s Guide to Success After the MFA,” is a collaborative, all-volunteer publishing project that features personal essays, editorials, poetry, articles, instruction, checklists, glossaries of industry and legal terms, and other resources by writers who have been there and done that.
The “Now What?” guide is a comprehensive resource to help aspiring authors thrive professionally, financially, creatively and even spiritually, while they continue pursuing their craft. It’s an invaluable resource for any serious writer, and would make for a thoughtful gift for the aspiring writers in your life.
