Patricia T. Femia '82

Immediately after graduating from Fairfield University in 1982 with a major in biology and a minor in modern languages, Trish accepted a research position with Hoffmann LaRoche in Nutley, N.J. She started as an assistant scientist in biochemistry and drug metabolism, performing studies using HPLC and GC/MS instrumentation, and then moved into the Department of Pharmacology, where she was running various in-vivo protocols for the screening of memory-enhancing drugs and studies on gastrointestinal diseases.

Although Trish was working on very interesting research projects in the labs at Roche, she wanted to use her scientific background in a business setting, so she left research in 1986 to pursue a career in medical sales. She has worked as a sales representative with various medical, diagnostic, and capital equipment companies over the past 23 years. She received numerous sales awards over the years for developing key accounts within new sales regions and markedly increasing the territory sales revenues.

Trish is currently employed as a Senior Corporate Account Manager for High Throughput Genomics, a Tucson, Arizona-based company which makes gene expression technology used in drug discovery research in the the industrial and academic markets in NJ, NY and CT.

Trish currently resides with her husband of 27 years, Robert A. Femia, Ph.D. (B.S. in Chemistry, Fairfield, Class of 1981) in Kinnelon and Mantoloking, NJ. They have three children, Robert Jr., Page, and Paul. Over the past twelve years, Trish has chaired various committees of major school and parish fundraising campaigns, raising substantial money for the reconstruction of their church, as well as the renovation of their children's grammar school.
