Margaret Kelly Murray P'07

Margaret (Mickey) is the founder and merchandise director of Whispering Pines. Established in 1988, Whispering Pines is a home and apparel lifestyle catalog and web retailer. She also sits on the Board of Directors of AmericanTowns.com, LLC, a network of 86 local websites serving all of Fairfield and Westchester counties as well as towns in New Jersey, Long Island, and Massachusetts.

Mickey currently serves as a trustee of the Matthew Gaffney Foundation. The Gaffney Foundation is a Connecticut based not-for-profit organization that offers economically disadvantaged students college preparation and placement support. Mickey served as a long-time trustee of Reach Prep and Lawyers for Children. Reach Prep is a program that prepares students of color to enter independent schools in the Fairchester League. Lawyers for Children, founded in 1984, is one of the leading professional, not-for-profit organizations in New York City dedicated to representing children in foster care.

From 1996 to 2005, Mickey served as a member of the Board of Trustees of St. Luke's School in New Canaan, Conn., which both her sons attended for their middle and high school years. As a trustee she chaired the Diversity Committee and was a member of the Search Committee that elected a new Head of School in 2002. She served on several other committees including Critical Issues, Education, Development and Alumni Relations. While a trustee, one of her favorite assignments was as a member of the Steering Committee planning the tribute benefit for retiring Headmaster Dick Whitcomb. She wrote, produced, and directed a 20-minute video highlighting Dick's 41 years of service to St. Luke's that was presented at the event. Her tenure on the St. Luke's board was during years of tremendous change and growth that included major milestones in capital improvements, fundraising, and curriculum.

Mickey grew up in Chicago, Illinois and attended St. Mary of the Woods College. She currently lives in Chicago. She is the mother of two sons, Homer, a graduate of the School of Visual Arts in New York City, and Luke, a '07 graduate of Fairfield University.
