Q. Are Fairfield University's Dolan School of Business Graduate Programs accredited?

A. Yes. All of the graduate programs at the Dolan School of Business are accredited by NEASC and AACSB International.

Q. Are there admission deadlines for your programs?

A. The Master of Business Administration, Master of Science in Finance, and Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies are on rolling admissions.

While the Master of Science in Accounting also has rolling admissions, the cohort size is limited so applicants are strongly encouraged to apply by the end of the fall semester prior to the summer start.

Q. What are your admission requirements?

A. Before you can apply to our graduate programs you must have completed a Bachelor's Degree.

The following prerequisites are required for admission into any of our programs (please refer to the chart below for additional program-specific requirements):

  • Statistics
  • College Level Math
  • Intro to Micro Economics
  • Intro to Macro Economics

The following materials are required for the application:

  • Completed application and $60 application fee
  • Official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate work
  • 2 Professional references
  • Resume
  • Official GMAT Score (recommended 500 or better)
  • Official Undergraduate transcripts (recommended GPA 3.0 or better)

Q. How do I apply for admission?

A. Apply online.

Q. Can I apply directly after graduation or do I need work experience?

A. Yes you can apply directly after graduation. Work experience is beneficial, as it enables you to bring your own professional experiences into the classroom.

Q. When are classes offered and what concentrations do you offer?

A. All our programs are designed for the working professional as well as for students who want to pursue full-time studies. Classes are offered in the evenings, weekends and during intercessions. Our classes are from 6:30-9:30 p.m. to accommodate work schedules. Concentrations for the MBA program and Certificate of Advanced Studies are in the following areas: Accounting, Accounting Information Systems (AIS), Entrepreneurship, Finance, General Management, Human Resource Management, Information Systems & Operations Management, Marketing and Taxation.

Q. How often do classes meet?

A. Classes meet once a week during the fall and spring semesters. Each semester, we also offer a limited number of 7 week courses, which meet once during the week and on 3 Saturdays. During the summer months and the winter break, we offer a number of either 2 week intensive or 5 week courses.

Q. What are the class sizes for the Dolan School of Business graduate programs?

A. Classes are small; usually 20-25 students per class.

Q. How many credits are required to complete the graduate programs?

A. Each of our specialized Masters programs (Master of Finance and Master of Accounting) is 30 credit hours.

A. The MBA program is a 54 credit hour program. Waivers are done on an individual basis, depending on the applicant's undergraduate background and academic achievements. A student can receive up to 6 waivers, thus possibly reducing the MBA requirements to as few as 36 credits.

Q. Do students study on a part-time or full-time basis?

A. Our students study both part-time and full-time. International Students study full-time.

You are able to take the GMAT more than once if you feel your score was not satisfactory. Make sure you request that your scores be sent to Fairfield University. You may obtain an unofficial copy of your test score which you can submit to us prior to us receiving the official paperwork from GMAT.

Q. How long does it take to complete the program?

A. You have 5 years from the time you start the degree to finish it. For the typical part-time MBA student, the degree can be completed in 2-3 years. Based on an applicant's undergraduate background, it is possible to complete the MBA degree as a full-time student in 1 year. Likewise, the MSF degree can be completed (full-time status) in a year and a semester (including summer). The MSA is set up to be a one year, full-time program.

Q. How many students are in the program?

A. We have over 250 students cross the three degree programs.

Q. Can I transfer credits in from another university?

A. You may transfer up to 6 graduate credits from another accredited university if the grade is B or better.


  • Currently, for all of our programs, tuition is $795 per credit hour

Q. My undergraduate degree is not in business. Can I still apply?

A. Yes. The Masters programs are open to students with a variety of educational backgrounds. Depending on one's background, 3 or 4 additional undergraduate courses may be required to fulfill the program prerequisites. These include:

  • Microeconomics
  • Macroeconomics
  • Statistics
  • College Level Math (Financial Accounting for MSF applicants)

Additional courses would be needed to apply for the MS in Accounting.

If you are applying to the Master of Science in Accounting program and do not have a Bachelor's Degree in accounting you can still apply to the program after you take the necessary prerequisite accounting undergraduate courses. These courses can be completed at Fairfield.
