Research & Creative Accomplishments Symposium
On April 26, 2012, Fairfield University will host a showcase of student work - from research projects to capstones to innovative art exhibitions and performances. You're invited to apply to spotlight your project for the campus community at the Barone Campus Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Fairfield's Research, Scholarship & Creative Activity Symposium will be held in conjunction with the 12th Annual Sigma Xi Student Poster Session in the Mathematics, Psychology, Engineering, and the Sciences, from 3-5 p.m. See below for links to the application forms.
Sponsored by the Office of Academic Affairs
The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, April 11th.
Eligibility
To be eligible to participate, individual or team applicants must:
- Be full-time or part-time, undergraduate or graduate Fairfield University students at any class level and in any discipline (arts & sciences, nursing, business, engineering, Continuing Studies)
- Have completed their research project under the supervision of a Fairfield University faculty or staff member
- Agree to present the work at the Research, Scholarship & Creative Activity Symposium on Thursday, April 26, 2012
Application Procedure
Please complete the online application for the Research, Scholarship & Creative Activity Symposium: individual or team. In addition, please refer to the Sigma Xi website to submit an abstract for the Sigma Xi poster session.
Selection Criteria
A committee composed of Fairfield University faculty and staff will judge submissions. The committee will seek to balance participation across a range of disciplines, class years, and presentation formats. Due to space constraints, poster presentations are most strongly encouraged.
Additional Opportunities
In addition to the April 26th Symposium, interested students should consider submitting their work for an online student project directory highlighting the accomplishments of Fairfield students and for the Library Research Prize. Students conducting research in the sciences should consider participating in the Sigma Xi poster session.
