The Office of Foundation Relations pursues funding from private foundations as well as associations in support of faculty research and academic programming.
The majority of funding secured through private foundation grants over the last decade at Fairfield University has been for signature academic programming that celebrates the University's Jesuit Catholic mission and advances the institution in terms of its core work around teaching and scholarship. Private foundations have assisted in the establishment of the:
- Center for Academic Excellence (Davis Educational Foundation, Pew Charitable Trusts, William and Flora Hewlett Foundation)
- Ignatian Residential College (Lilly Endowment and Raskob Foundation)
- Center for Faith and Public Life (Teagle Foundation and Carnegie Corporation of New York)
- Robin Kanarek Learning Resource Center in the School of Nursing (Kanarek Family Foundation, McKeen Fund, Gladys Brooks Foundation, and the Dephne Seybolt Culpeper Foundation)
The Office of Foundation Relations works with faculty as they pursue support for their research. The process involves an initial one-on-one discussion, the development of a short summary of the research, a comprehensive review of funding sources, and preparation of proposals and related budgets for submission.
