Bill examines the role of nurses, potential for cost savings
Meredith Wallace Kazer, an APRN and associate dean of Fairfield University's School of Nursing, said studies have repeatedly demonstrated that APRNs have been successful in working independent of doctors. "It's high time that we're allowed to function to the extent that we're able to," Kazer said.

Meredith Wallace Kazer, Ph.D., of New Haven, has been named associate dean of Fairfield University's School of Nursing. An adult and gerontological nurse practitioner, Kazer's positions at the nursing school also include professor and director of graduate programs. Kazer is currently working on several research studies aimed at supporting the needs of older adults and men with prostate cancer. Last year, she was inducted as a fellow into the American Academy of Nursing.
