Seeing the Parthenon's past through sketches: Katherine Schwab's drawings
Though many scholars study the better preserved parts of the Parthenon - such as its controversial frieze - Fairfield University art historian Katherine Schwab instead devoted countless hours to examining the more damaged rectangular panels, or metopes, of the Parthenon's East and North sides.

Schwab's Parthenon drawings go on display Tuesday
Schwab was honored this summer when gray-scale images scanned from 26 of her original research drawings of the Parthenon's east and north metopes (the spaces between two triglyphs on a Doric frieze) became part of the permanent installation in the Parthenon Gallery of the new Acropolis Museum in Athens.

Elaborate Grecian hairstyles copied from Acropolis Museum statues come to life on Fairfield University student volunteers
Dr. Katherine Schwab, associate professor of art history, arranged for Acropolis Museum caryatid coiffures to come to life on six student volunteers. News 12 CT interviewed Dr. Schwab and filmed one of the elaborate hair styles as it was being completed. The exercise was designed to determine whether or not the sculptors invented an artistic convention or used real hairstyles.
