Current Research Interests

My research interests center on the poems and letters of Emily Dickinson and her American female literary peers. I'm currently exploring the way nineteenth-century women's writing reflects a commitment to social activism and enters into popular national discourses, such as the Civil War, abolition, and Native-American removal, in antebellum print culture. Other projects include a book on feminist pedagogy and Jesuit education, co-edited with Prof. Jocelyn Boryczka in the Politics Department, and, with the aid of a Corrigan Scholar, a volume of selected works by Lydia Sigourney, a popular poet, essayist, and reformer.
