Current Research Interests
My program of research has focused on the relationship between nurse staffing levels and patient outcomes. My dissertation work examined the relationship between nurse staffing levels and patient symptom distress on medical surgical units in acute care hospitals.
As a post-doctoral fellow, I worked with a team on research which centered on understanding the incidence and prevalence of pressure ulcers among terminally-ill nursing home residents. In addition, I collaborated on a project to determine the appropriateness of pharmacological therapy at the end of life, and worked to better understand of the impact of hospice care on pain management in nursing homes. Currently, I am collecting additional data to better understand the relationship between nurse staffing levels and the development of pressure ulcers in long-term care.
