Fellowships & Scholarships - Application Process

Image: Prestigious ScholarshipsMost fellowships and scholarships ask students to submit the following items:

  • College transcripts
  • Résumé
  • Recommendation letters from faculty and a chief academic officer
  • Essays regarding life experiences and professional goals
  • An evaluation submitted by the Office of Prestigious Scholarships & Graduate Fellowships

Since scholarships and fellowships limit the number of applicants a university may sponsor, the Office of Prestigious Scholarships & Graduate Fellowships and faculty need to screen submissions to select candidates. The Office will help students refine applications and then interview applicants to determine who could be more competitive beyond Fairfield University.

In order to receive Fairfield University's endorsement, it is highly recommended that students seek early acceptance to institutions of their choice. Please note, students cannot receive a scholarship if they are not accepted to at least one graduate program, so it is best to apply to more than one program.

It should also be noted that Fairfield University sets internal deadlines that are earlier than the deadlines you may see online. This is done to provide ample time for the internal selection of candidates, and for those selected candidates to prepare for a national competition. Once students receive the endorsement from the University, they will go on to compete on the national level for a scholarship or fellowship.
