BASE Camp (Broadening Access to Science Education) is designed to engage high school, female students in hands-on, research-based experiences in the sciences, engineering, and mathematics, in an effort to inform and excite students about the process of science.

BASE Camp is open to female students completing their sophomore or junior year at one of the Bridgeport high schools. These students must be in good academic standing, and have an interest in science. Space is limited to 24 students. Priority will be given to first-time participants. While priority is given to Bridgeport high school females, other female high school students in surrounding cities may apply to the program.
The two-week overnight camp is free of charge to Bridgeport students. All meals and lodging on campus are included. The National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparity Populations (NIMHD), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), generously provides funding for this program.
