Global Citizenship: Academic Integration
What does it mean to be a global citizen? At Fairfield, definitions of global citizenship abound as the term has ignited passion, engagement, intellectual inquiry, and collaboration across the University's disciplines and constituencies. As the selected area of focus for 2010-12, global citizenship is moving many towards reflection and action, both on and off campus.
The Global Citizenship theme has been woven throughout the teaching and learning opportunities available to Fairfield's students, across schools and disciplines for both undergraduate and graduate studies. For example, there are vibrant and active Faculty and Professional Learning Communities, including one devoted to diversity and one to global citizenship, and the Diversity Council includes a global citizenship subcommittee.
Collaborative projects such as these are facilitated by various departments, interdisciplinary programs, and student-led groups. Look inside some of the activities and events that have resulted from these efforts.
