Vice President for Administration and Chief of Staff, Mark C. Reed
Mark C. Reed is the Vice President for Administration and Chief of Staff. In this capacity, he serves as the principal advisor to the President of Fairfield University, coordinates the operations of the President's Office, participates in all aspects of the University planning and management, and provides leadership to and oversees the University's Legal Affairs, Trustee Affairs, Department of Facilities Management, Department of Athletics, Office of Human Resources, Department of Public Safety, and Auxiliary Services.
Dr. Reed came to Fairfield in 2000 and was appointed Dean of Students in 2001. In June 2004, he was named Associate Vice President and Dean of Students. He was appointed Vice President for Student Affairs in 2005, Vice President for Administration and Student Affairs in 2007, his current position in 2011. Reed also is an adjunct professor, teaching courses in Calculus and Statistics. He is past President of the Jesuit Association of Student Personnel Administrators (JASPA), a conference within the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU). He serves on the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Compliance and Enforcement Committee and chairs the MAAC's Strategic Planning Committee on behalf of the Council of Presidents.
Prior to work in higher education, Reed's experience includes teaching and administration at the secondary level. He holds a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Fairfield University, a master's degree in secondary educational administration from Boston College, an MBA from Fairfield, and a doctorate in higher education management from the University of Pennsylvania.
