North Benson Road – Nighttime Closure & Detour

The Connecticut Department of Transportation has announced that Route 135 (North Benson Road) between I-95 north entrance ramp from Route 135 and Route 1 (Post Road) in Fairfield will be closed to traffic at night and during weekends from October 4, 2010 to June 30, 2012.

The nighttime closures will occur Monday through Friday from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. and closures on some weekends may occur from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. The closures are required for the replacement of the railroad bridge that carries the New Haven Rail Line over North Benson Road. Work may, intermittently, be rescheduled during this time frame due to inclement weather. The detour routes will be clearly marked to assist motorists around the closure. Pedestrian access will be provided at all times.

The work is part of a project to replace five bridges on the New Haven Rail Line between Bridgeport and Fairfield.

Detour Routes

Vehicles other than Trucks - use Round Hill Road, Walls Drive and Kinne Drive to access points north and south of the closure including the I-95 northbound on ramp.

Trucks - access to Route 1 via I-95 exits 21 or 23
