Solving Real World Problems

Students will compete for prizes while interacting with industry leaders. Teams will collaborate with mentors to solve real problems in the biomedical and healthcare industry.

The Mission

Build an AI based phishing detector utlizing prompt engineering and the OpenAI API.

Using the OpenAI API, the engine behind ChatGPT, the task is to develop an application, which will read in a batch of email messages and detect whether the content is spam or not with high accuracy.

Scoring of this one-day group-based event will be based on both soNware architecture quality and the accuracy of the system’s fraudulent message detection.

The Application

A well-designed system built up through a series of modules which support:

  • I/O to read messages in for processing
  • Design and implementation of Data Structure(s) to manage input in memory
  • Utilization of the OpenAI API to perform a determination if a message is spam or not
  • Experimentation of prompt engineering and API variants to increase accuracy
  • A report illustrating results
